Requirements

The MBP admission requirements emphasize strong quantitative skills and knowledge of molecular sciences and include at least one year of calculus, one year of organic chemistry, one year of physical chemistry (or at least general chemistry), a sophomore-level cell/molecular biology course, and research experience in either an academic or industrial setting. We accept students with a variety of degrees/majors that include but not limited to biochemistry, biological sciences, bioengineering, biomedical engineering, biotechnology, chemical engineering, and chemistry. When making admission decisions the program takes a holistic approach,  considering many factors including GRE scores, a GPA of at least 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, letters of support and performance during the interview (in person or by phone).

Application Process Requirements

The following application materials are required to be considered for acceptance into the program:

  • a completed online application

  • a non-refundable $50 application fee (make checks and money orders payable to Northwestern University) official transcripts of all college studies

  • an official copy of GRE scores (institution code: 1011) and, if necessary, TOEFL scores (code: 5937)

  • three letters of recommendation included with the standard MBP recommendation form

We are continuing to accept applications for fall 2008 admission and will do so until all available spots are filled. In order to ensure enough time for visa processing international students should have all their application materials submitted by May 31st.
